Updates on information relating to Eco Ganesh festival, idols and other celebrations.
MeMumbai.com (EcoGanesh.com) started the campaign of Paper Mache Ganesh Idols in 2012. As a result the first 5ft Paper Mache idol was demanded by DFW Hindu Temple in Texas United States.
DFW Hindu Temple in association with Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandal, Texas is holding 11 day cultural fest during Ganesh Utsav. For more info can visit: www.DFWHinduTemple.org
The exhibition relating to display of Eco Ganesh Idols and the materials useful for Ganeshotsav is being held at Vidya Mandir School, Dahisar (East). It is organised by a social group know as Spandan.
Main feature of the exhibition:
To be Inaugurated by Ex-Mayor Shubha Raul accompanied by Industrialist Smt Meenal Mohadikar.
Exhibition details:
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) organised the exhibitionn of Shadu (Clay) and Paper Mache Ganesh Murtis jointly with Nirmal Jyot Trust, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Shadu Murtikar Sangathana and Siddhivinayak Temple Trust.
The exhibition is from 2nd of Sept 2012 till 6th September 2012 from 11 am to 5 pm.
The response of people is overwhelming. Further the exhibitions are extended to BMC ward offices and Mantralaya.
There is increasing trend where people are turning towards Eco Ganesh Idol.
There is a small exhibition cum booking of Eco Ganesh Idol Exhibition at Santacruz (East). This is an attempt to create Eco Ganesh awareness locally.
The idols displayed are made from the mixture of Shadu and Paper mache. These idol height ranges from 9" to 15". Click here to see the eco ganesh idols
Paper mache Ganesh idols are alternative for Shadu idols. Mostly these idols are of small size upto 2 feet. All the bigger sized idols are made from Plaster of Paris (POP) idols. Now all the big POP idols can be replaced by Paper mache idols which are light and sturdy.
Here is the example set by Murtikar Sandeep Gajakosh by making 5 feet paper mache idol. This murti is sent to Texas, US.
Eco Ganesh Idol's exhibition cum awareness is organised from 24th April to 1st May 2012 at Siddhivinayak Temple, Prabhadevi.
It's a initiative taken by NGO Nirmal Jyot with Maharashtra Pollution Board Control (MPCB) to create awareness of Eco Ganesh Idols much in advance.
The exhibition will enable people to:
Murtikar Sameer Dhage with the help of local corporate Shri Prashant Raut, have arranged worshop for the preparation of Paper Mache Ganesh Idols. Workshop has already started and are conducted in batches.
On completion of the workshop, certificates will be issued to successful candidates.
To spread the Eco Ganesh message the target of 1000 idols has been set. The inauguration of the event took place on 14th April 2012.
